Water Laser Show, First of its Kind in India at Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar
A laser show to reveal the spiritual past on a water based background, the first of its kind in India was inaugurated at the Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar in the state of Gujarat.
Sat Chit Anand, a laser water show was inaugurated on the 225th Anniversary birthday of Lord Swaminarayan at the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in the city of Gandhinagar. The show, a blend of technology and spirituality, was projected on a 60 feet high water screen. The water screen was created with water that sprung from 4,000 nozzles by 180 pumps, 12 fireball throwers and in addition there were musical effects created by 10.2 sound systems which created a 360 degree sound effect all around.
The show, a scientific marvel, was created by scientist and sound recorders from India. Vipul Waghela, a former scientist with ISRO was in charge of multi media work, while Parag Shastri was in charge of the sounds. The show was directed by Yves Pepin, a French creative director and one of the important people involved in the opening and closing ceremonies of Beijing Olympic Games.
The organizer of the show is Shri Akshar-Purshottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, who manages the temple. The story projected on the water screen was of Pramukh Swami, the one of Nachiketa from the Kathopanishad and his encounter with the Lord of Death, Yama. Sat Chit Anand literally means truth, consciousness and bliss and as such the story reveals the ancient secret of enlightenment, mysteries of life, death, and life after death through the story of Nachiketa, a nine-year old boy, who appears in front of the Lord of Death, Yama, as a result of fulfilling his father's word.
The organizers wanted to use the best technology, but without stealing the limelight from the message of the story. And as such the technology helped in getting across the message with its creation of sound effects that alternated between the voices from heaven and hell, the fire effects and colourful lights created with the help of high powered projectors depicting a variety of scenes like anacondas squirming at the gate of death, spikes coming from nowhere to kill the child, dancing demons, fire, volcanic eruptions and lightning and all of it on the water screen.
The show had one and all, children and adults in its enthrall, with a spiritual message presented in an entertainment package to inspire the new generation. With such a show, the first of its kind in India, Chief Minster of Gujarat, Narendra Modi had the best word when he said, The Swaminarayan Sansthan should be a subject for good management for MBA schools.''
