Swargadwar meaning the “door to heaven”, is located 2 km from the Jagannath temple. A secluded beach, Swargadwar is regarded as a holy place in Puri. It is believed that this used to be the bathing place of Sri Chaitanyadev, a renowned prophet of the Vaishnava sect. Shri Chaitanyadev is said to have merged in Lord Brahma and gone to heaven. Thus many Hindu devotees come here to take a dip in the waters as it is considered to be the gateway to heaven.
