Nathdwara
[ Edit ] Overview
Nathdwara, meaning the “Gate of God”, is one of the popular pilgrim centers in India. Located 48 km north east of Udaipur, Nathdwara is situated on the banks of the River Banas in Rajasthan. This pilgrimage center enshrines Lord Krishna as Govardhana Giridhari. The idol of Srinathji is the highlight of Nathdwara. The idol is sculpted out of a single piece of black marble and is believed to date back to the 12th century.
Nathdwara is also very close associated with the Vallabha Sampradaya of Vaishnavism.
