Delwara

Delwara, 24 km from Udaipur, is a quaint village in the Aravalis located on NH-8 in the south west of rajasthan. 50% of the population in this village comprises of Jains, while Hindus and Muslims make up 30% and 20% respectively.
Delwara has a beautiful Jain Temple which comprises of five temples and are believed to have been the inspiration behind the Ranakpur Jain Temple, as well as the temple in Dilwara (Mount Abu). In addition, Delwara is home to the Devi Garh Palace Hotel which was earlier an 18th century palace and and after undergoing restoration and refurbishings has been converted to a luxury hotel.
Arcaheological evidence has veen suggested that Lord mahavir has visited Delwara, which makes Delwara a sacred place for the Jains.
In addition to the temple, the village makes for a lovely stroll with narrow roads, colorful walls and courtyards, and a laid back feel. There is also an interesting stepwell (baori) in Delwara. The countryside around the Delwara, and especially behind the Devi Garh Palace, with the Aravalli Hills surrounding the valley, make for an enjoyable early morning walk.
Delwara is surrounded by lush green fields and mountains on three sides and is close to the temples of Eklingji and Nagda.
